Kane'ohe Marine killed in Iraq yesterday

Pfc. Daniel B. Chaires, 20, of Tallahassee, Fla., died yesterday from wounds received while conducting combat operations in Al Anbar province, Iraq, Department of Defense officials reported today.Chaires was assigned to 2nd Battalion, 3rd Marine Regiment, 3rd Marine Division, III Marine Expeditionary Force, Kane'ohe Bay, Hawai'i. He is the seventh Marine with the battalion to be killed in combat since Sept. 26. About 1,000 Hawai'i Marines last month started a seven-month deployment to Iraq.
