Search under way for man tied to stabbing

Police are searching for a man in connection with an attempted murder in Kalihi early today.

The victim, a 23-year-old man, was stabbed in the upper back about 2:43 a.m. at Tondo Tondo, 746 Kohou St. in Kalihi, police and emergency services authorities said.

The victim was found face down and motionless, policed said. Paramedics took him to The Queen's Medical Center, said Bryan Cheplic, spokesman for the Honolulu Emergency Services Department. Details about his condition was not available, but he was stable.

No description of the suspect was available.

Girlfriend reports clock-radio assault

A 40-year-old Palolo man was arrested yesterday for allegedly throwing a clock radio at his girlfriend and breaking her nose, police said.

The incident took place about 10:15 a.m. Oct. 8 at the Palolo Avenue home the suspect and victim share. The victim told hospital authorities about the incident as they treated her for a broken nose and a laceration that needed stitches, police said.

Police returned to the home yesterday and arrested the boyfriend for investigation of 2nd-degree assault while he was hiding in the garage.

Man arrested in bogus bill incident

Charges are pending against a 56-year-old man who tried to use a counterfeit bill yesterday at a Nanakuli store, police said.

The man entered the store at 87-2020 Farrington Highway and tried to buy merchandise with a fake $100 bill. The cashier and the manager called police.

The man was arrested for investigation of 1st-degree forgery.
