Waiakea tops in BIIF air riflery

Waiakea High's boys and girls air riflery teams went undefeated en route to Big Island Interscholastic Federation championships, the league has announced.

Both teams finished 6-0. Konawaena (5-1) was second in the boys standings, while Hilo (5-1) was second in the girls standings.

Chaynce Hanato-Wells of Konawaena won the BIIF individual championship meet with a shooting average of 507 points, followed by Reyn Takahashi of Waiakea with 505. Colby Yoshida of Waiakea was third with 501.

Jessica Pajo of Waiakea won the girls title with 510, followed by teammate Kylee Chang with 493 and Amber Koyanagi of Konawaena with 492.

The state championship meet is Oct. 31 at Blaisdell Center Exhibition Hall.
