Police continue search for suspects in car chase

Advertiser Staff

Police are continuing to look for two men who initiated a car chase in downtown Honolulu yesterday that ended with a collision and an injured police officer.

The incident happened about 10 a.m. yesterday when two patrol officers responded to a report of two men in a car using drugs in the 200 block of Prospect Street. The officers got out of their vehicle and approached the men.

The suspect then suddenly vehicle reversed, ramming one of two parked police cars and almost hitting one of the police officers. During the subsequent pursuit, when a third police vehicle tried to get ahead of the suspect's car it collided with a woman's car at the corner of School Street and Pali Highway.

The officer was taken to The Queen's Medical Center, where he was treated and released. The woman in the car was uninjured, police said.

Police said the suspect car is a light blue Toyota with oxidized paint. The driver reportedly had tattoos on both forearms. Anyone with information on the suspects or the car is asked to call police at 529-3115.
