Film writer and director Cameron Crowe, the man behind "Fast Times at Ridgemont High" and the recent "Elizabethtown," will hold a videoconference for Academy for Creative Media students at the University of Hawai'i from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. Wednesday. The ACM and Directors Guild of America are presenting the direct-from-Los Angeles session, which will be moderated by director Randal Kleiser.

Other Crowe hits include "Jerry Maguire" and Almost Famous."

Kleiser is best known for helming such films as "Blue Lagoon" and "Grease."

ACM director Chris Lee and assistant professor Joel Moffett will moderate from Kuykendall 201 on the UH-Manoa campus.

The videoconference will be the first of many with notable filmmakers.

While the session is for master-class ACM students, people may sit in on the videoconference on a space-available basis. Reservations are required. To book a possible spot, contact Lily Ching at 956-7736.

"This is a real one on one with just Hawai'i students," said Tom Brislin, chairman of the ACM. The videoconference is the first of several that are planned for the academic year.
