When architects turn their skills to pumpkin carving, the results can be delightfully intricate or stylishly frightful. You can see their creations from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. tomorrow at the annual Architects Hawaii carving competition at the American Savings Bank lobby, 1001 Bishop St. There's an awards ceremony at 1 p.m.

KEEP IT SIMPLE

DELETE DROSS, TAKE YOUR DESKTOP TO CLEANERS

Cutting the clutter on your computer desktop can be just as important as straightening up your home. One place to start, according to pcworld.com, is by removing desktop icons duplicated other places, such as the start-up menu. Another good tip is uninstalling all those trial software programs that came with your PC but you never use.

FINAL WORD

"When people say they want red walls, do they really want red walls? Chances are, what they really want is recognition, and what they're really, really looking for is recognition from themselves."

Dan Ho | Simplicity guru in The New York Times
