Armed thieves use roommate to steal motorcycle

Police are investigating a complaint filed by a Punchbowl area man who said he was kidnapped by two men early yesterday morning and forced to hand over the keys to his roommate's motorcycle, which was then stolen by one of the two men.The man who filed the complaint said said he was parking his sports utility vehicle in his condominium's garage near Victoria and Queen streets between 2:45 and 3 a.m. when two men walked up to him from behind and began to hit him.
He said the two men demanded the keys to his roommate's motorcycle and that one of the men drew a handgun and pointed at him.
The 40-year-old man who filed the complaint said that after he turned over the motorcycle keys, the two men forced him back into his SUV and drove him around the block. He told police the two men took him back to the condominium parking lot, at which point one of the man fled on the motorcycle and the other jumped out of the van and ran away.
No one had been located or arrested in connection with the case as of this morning, police said.
Screwdriver in ignition leads to theft arrest
A 25-year-old Makaha woman was arrested early this morning in Waianae after police found her driving a car that had been reported stolen.
Police said a patrol officer saw a 1990 white Honda Accord commit a traffic offense and ordered the driver to pull over.
When the officer saw a screwdriver sticking out of the ignition, he checked on the car's documentation and learned it had been reported stolen, police said.
They said the officer then arrested the woman, who was driving the car on suspicion of unauthorized control of a propelled vehicle.
Fast-food clerk's fast thinking leads to forgery arrest
A 36-year-old Kaimuki woman was arrested last night after she allegedly tried to use a counterfeit $100 bill to pay for a food order at the Wendy's restaurant in 'Aiea.
Police were called to the restaurant shortly after the woman paid for the food and arrested her nearby on suspicion of first-degree forgery.
Man driving stolen car arrested
A 30-year-old man with no local address was arrested yesterday morning in the Punchbowl area after a police officer spotted the man driving a car that had been reported stolen.
Police said the officer noticed the man was not wearing a seat belt and ordered him to pull over. They said the officer checked the license plate and found it did not match the car to which it was affixed.
A check of the car's vehicle identification number showed the car had been reported stolen.
At that point, the officer arrested the driver about 10:30 a.m. on suspicion of unauthorized control of a propelled vehicle.
