Advertiser Staff

The condition of an 84-year-old man who was rescued by surfers today in waters off Ala Moana Beach Park had improved to serious by early evening, according to city Emergency Services spokesman Bryan Cheplic.

The man who apparently passed out in the water while spearing for octopus was brought to shore by surfers at 10:15 a.m. and transported to Straub Clinic & Hospital in critical condition.
