Saint Louis, Kaua'i named top seeds in state football

Saint Louis and Kaua'i were awarded the top seeds for the First Hawaiian Bank/HHSAA Football Division I and II State Tournaments, respectively, and will be awarded first-round byes.

Also receiving first-round byes are the Oahu Interscholastic Association champion (Division I), to be determined Nov. 10, and King Kekaulike of the Maui Interscholastic League (Division II).

The first round of both six-team tournaments kicks off Friday, Nov. 17 at various school sites across the state. The tournament continues one week later at Aloha Stadium for a doubleheader of Division I semifinals and Vidinha Stadium and War Memorial Stadium for Division II semifinals.

The OIA champion will play the winner of the MIL and third-place OIA team Nov. 24 at Aloha Stadium. King Kekaulike will host the winner of the ILH and second-place OIA team Nov. 24 at War Memorial Stadium on Maui.

The tournament concludes Friday, Dec. 1 at Aloha Stadium with the Division II championship game at 5 p.m. and Division I at 8 p.m.
