Flash flood advisory in effect for windward O'ahu

Advertiser Staff

This Halloween is starting off as a wet one for the windward side of O'ahu where the National Weather Service has issued a flood advisory notice.

Radar images and rain gauges show moderate to heavy rainfall over the windward slopes of the Koolau Range. The rain has remained stationary for several hours, forecasters at the weather service said.

Locations hard hit by the rain include, but are not limited to, Waimanalo, Olomana, Maunawili and Kane'ohe.

Residents are urged to stay away from streams and low-lying areas.

Don't try to cross fast flowing or rising water in your vehicle or on foot.

The water might be too deep to cross safely.
