The Healani Boat Club advertised a moonlight picnic and dance in the Oct. 31, 1892, Pacific Commercial Advertiser.

1886: The funeral of Chiefess Abigail Kalola is held at Kawaiaha'o Church. She was buried at Kawaiaha'o Cemetery.

1889: A jury acquits Robert W. Wilcox, who had been tried on charges of treason for the 1889 rebellion against the so-called "reform government."

2003: A large shark on Kaua'i's north shore attacks 13-year-old surfing champion Bethany Hamilton, taking off most of her left arm.
