Hawaii soccer team wins, 3-0

Hawaii defeated Kent State, 3-0, at the Outrigger

Hotels & Resorts Soccer Classic Friday night at the

Waipi'o Peninsula Soccer Stadium.

Hawaii (1-1-0) plays Winthrop (1-1-0) Saturday at 5

p.m. Winthrop and Kent State play tonight at 7.

The Rainbow Wahine struck early on a goal by junior

midfielder Jessica Domingo, who scored in the 10th

minute. Sophomore midfielder Alexis Choi started the

play when she popped up a high cross, which bounced to

freshman forward Ambree Ako. Ako headed it to Domingo,

who controlled the ball, took a look and launched a

ball to the upper left corner of the goal.

Sophomore forward Taryn Fukuroku scored four minutes

later on a header off a corner kick by sophomore

midfielder Kelli-Anne Chang from the left side.

Ako scored on a penalty kick in the

31st minute, after Fukuroku was taken down in the

penalty box.

Kent State's first shot on goal was a free kick from

just outside the penalty box by freshman Jackie Barath

in the final minute of the half.
