Foster Botanical Garden Docent Training, for those who love being outdoors, love plants and love people, training begins 1-2:30 p.m. Tuesdays, Sept. 19-Oct. 31 at the gardens. Class will give an overview of Honolulu's botanical gardens, documentation of plants, recognizing trees, hybrids, orchid species and more. Register: 522-7064.

Bonsai Exhibit, displays, growing tips and demonstrations, plant sale, 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday and 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Sunday during the Okinawan Festival, Kapi'olani Park; free, sponsored by the Hawaii Bonsai Association.

Ethno-Botanical Festival and Healing Arts Fair, learn about traditional Chinese, Filipino, Ayurvedic, Samoan and Hawaiian healing practices and the healing properties of plants, with workshops, displays and keiki activities, 9 a.m.-10 p.m. Sunday, Waimea Valley Audubon Center; events are free (admission: $8 general and $5 kama'aina to tour the park); sponsored by Hawaii Healing Garden. 638-0888.
