Police continue search for 3 beating suspects

Police are continuing to search for three men suspected of beating a Wai'anae man to death Friday in a Farrington Highway parking lot.

Police have said that they have a description of the car used by the men, and that they may know the identity of one of the suspects, a man in his 20s. No arrests were made as of yesterday, and police said the investigation remains relatively unchanged since Friday.

Roger Haudenshild, 46, was beaten to death shortly before 6:30 p.m. Friday in the parking lot of the Wai'anae Store along Farrington Highway.

The attack was triggered by a traffic altercation, said his girlfriend, Theresa Tucay.

The trouble began at the Wai'anae McDonald's when Haudenshild, who was riding a mountain bike, got into a traffic dispute with a man in a sports car and a fistfight broke out, Tucay said. After the fight, the man said he would return with friends. Haudenshild and Tucay went to the Wai'anae Store, about 100 yards away, Tucay said.

A short time later, a Ford sedan pulled into the lot and three men jumped out, knocked Tucay down and began to beat Haudenshild, Tucay said. She said the men kicked and stomped him until he was unconscious, and then continued beating him before fleeing in the car.

Haudenshild was pronounced dead at the Wai'anae Coast Comprehensive Health Center.
