Ninth-ranked Hawaii came together to overcome Northwestern and the continued loss of two of its best players Friday night, winning 29-31, 30-27, 32-30, 32-30 in its Waikiki Beach Marriott Volleyball Challenge.

The Rainbow Wahine (5-2) play eighth-ranked Stanford for the Challenge championship Saturday night.

The win was watched by 4,603 at Stan Sheriff Center, along with Kanoe Kamana'o and Tara Hittle for the second straight match.

Hawai'i's All-American setter and all-WAC hitter are not cleared to play because of injuries. Hittle came into the arena on crutches and has a walking cast on her right foot. UH can give no information on the nature or seriousness of their injuries.

Hawai'i's balanced performance was led by Sarah Mason (19 kills, 15 digs) and Jamie Houston (23 kills) offensively and Jayme Lee's 26 digs. Northwestern got 17 kills from Lindsay Anderson and 34 digs from freshman libero Kate Nobilio.

Game 4 was tied 17 times, with the 'Bows erasing two game points to get to 30-29. After Northwestern fought off match point, it served out and Mason's kill ended it.
