TONIGHT'S MUST-SEE

"Fashion Rocks," 8 p.m., CBS. Fall Fashion Week in New York City provides the backdrop for an A-list concert, as a fundraiser for the Elton John AIDS Foundation. John is listed as the event's curator, putting together unusual combinations. He has lots of talent to work with. Country music provides the husband-wife duo of Tim McGraw and Faith Hill; the rock-pop-rap world provides a deluge. That includes Beyonce, Christina Aguilera, Kanye West, Bon Jovi, Jamie Foxx, Nelly Furtado, Jay-Z and Rihanna, plus the Black Eyed Peas, Pussycat Dolls, Dandy Yankees and Scissor Sisters.

OF NOTE

"Apocalypse Now Redux" (2001 re-edit of 1979 film), Bravo, or "Scarface" (1983), AMC, both 5 p.m. Choose a master filmmaker. "Apocalypse" was made — and then re-made — by Francis Coppola; "Scarface" was by Brian De Palma.

"Star Trek," 5 to 9 p.m., TV Land. It was 40 years ago today that "Star Trek" debuted. Tonight, TV Land starts with that original episode, with McCoy refusing to accept the fact that a salt vampire has assumed the form of his lover. That's followed by three classics. At 6 p.m., Kirk's lover (Joan Collins, no less) must die to preserve the time line. At 7, furry tribbles take over. At 8, the Enterprise officers are enslaved by creatures with telepathic powers.

"The Flight that Fought Back" (2005), 6, 10 p.m., Discovery Channel. Here's another chance to see this excellent, Emmy-nominated film, which uses interviews and re-enactments to re-create passengers' efforts to take over the hijacked Flight 93 on Sept. 11, 2001.

"Firestorm: Last Stand at Yellowstone," 7 p.m., A&E. If you missed this movie Monday, here's another chance. Strong, kinetic firefighting scenes salvage one of the worst plots in recent years, as park officials seem oddly disinterested in preventing a massive tragedy.

"Ghost Whisperer," 7 p.m., CBS. This rerun offers the first half of the two-part season-finale, with Melinda sensing that something bad is going to happen.

"Celebrity Duets," 8 p.m., Fox. The second person is voted out, trimming the field to six.

"Law & Order," 9 p.m., NBC. When an undercover cop is killed, detectives try to learn who leaked her identity.
