Arizona clips UH soccer, 1-0, in OT

The University of Hawai'i women's soccer team couldn't get on track offensively, losing 1-0 in overtime to Arizona in the Four Points Sheraton Cats Classic yesterday at Tucson, Ariz.
Sophomore forward Gianna DeSaverio scored the game-winner in the 98th minute to lift the Wildcats (4-2) to the tournament title.
DeSaverio's goal came off assists by Savanah Levake and Laura Huylebroeck. Levake started the play with a long ball from the backline. Huylebroeck then flicked a header to a streaking DeSaverio who fired a right-footer from 10 yards out into the back of the net.
DeSaverio's goal was the first surrendered by the Rainbow Wahine (3-2-1) in four matches since their season-opening 1-0 loss to Washington.
It was Hawai'i's second consecutive overtime match following a scoreless tie against Pacific on Friday.
Hawai'i concludes its three-match road trip when it travels to Flagstaff to face Northern Arizona tomorrow.

LIGHTNING SUSPENDS U.S. MID AMATEUR
Gary Kong and Brandan Kop, Hawai'i representatives at the 26th U.S. Mid Amateur Championship, were two of 131 players who did not get to complete their second round after lightning suspended play in Flagstaff, Ariz., yesterday.
Kong shot a 9-over 81 and Kop shot 11-over 83 on Saturday.
Jim Strickland of Scottsdale, Ariz., leads the tournament by two strokes. He shot a 3-under 68 at the Forest Highlands Golf Club's Canyon Course yesterday for a 2-under 141 total.
After completion of the second round of stroke play today, the field will be trimmed to the low 64 scorers who will advance to match play at the par-71, 6,941-yard Canyon Course.
The championship runs through Thursday's 36-hole final match.
