UH recruits ranked among Top 100

Advertiser Staff

Amanda Simmons and Elizabeth Ka'aihue, who have made verbal commitments to play for the University of Hawai'i next fall, are ranked in the Top 100 of volleyball.com's Senior Aces.

Punahou hitter Larissa Nordyke, headed to UC Irvine, is also ranked in double digits in the list of the 250 "best recruits in the class of 2007."

Simmons, a 6-foot-3 middle blocker from Illinois, is ranked 57th. The site's summary said "Simmons' best volleyball is still ahead of her" because she is relatively new to the sport.

Ka'aihue, out of Punahou, is ranked 85th. She is called the "ultimate libero prospect" because of her versatility.

Nordyke is ranked 56th. Volleyball.com believes she "can be the explosive outside hitter the Anteaters so desperately need."

Alix Klineman, a 6-5 hitter from California, is the top-ranked player and "arguably the best junior-level player ever," according to the site. Klineman made her official visit to Hawai'i two weeks ago. Volleyball.com calls UH, UCLA, Stanford, Texas and Washington the "final five" for the uncommitted player.

The site listed Nos. 101 to 250 alphabetically. That included Waimea's Nue Wong, headed to UNLV according to volleyball.com, Kamehameha's Alexis Robins (Portland) and Kea Kea (Pepperdine), and Iolani's Kapua Kamana'o (St. Mary's, Calif.).
