	Oahu Railway and Land Co. advertised its auction of seaside residential sites in the Pearl City peninsula in the Sept. 14, 1891, Pacific Commercial Advertiser.

1956: City supervisors and Mayor Neal Blaisdell decide to acquire the Ward estate as a site for a sports arena and two theaters.

1991: Miss Hawaii Carolyn Sapp is crowned Miss America. She is the first Hawai'i resident to win the title.
