Southern swell will continue to build

Advertiser Staff

Look for surf along south-facing shores to build gradually throughout the day today and then remain higher than normal into the middle of next week, according to the National Weather Service, as a couple of south-southwest swells arrive.

Surf is expected to be highest on Sunday and Tuesday, with peak surf heights around the 8-foot advisory level.

A small north-northwest swell is also due in today and is expected to diminish over the weekend, but not before delivering the first significant surf of the fall and winter season — up to 8 feet.

Today's forecast calls for surf along south-facing shores to increase to 3 to 5 feet by this afternoon.

Surf along west- and east-facing shores will build to 2 to 4 feet.

Surf along north-facing shores will be increasing to 6 to 8 feet.
