Kayaker pulled from bay waters died of heart attack

Advertiser Staff

An autopsy has determined that a Big Island man pulled from West Hawai'i waters Tuesday died of a heart attack.

The victim has been identified at Alvin Lung, 63, of North Kohala.

Lung was last seen launching his kayak from the Puako Boat Ramp. Witnesses saw him floating in a bay between the boat ramp and Wailea Bay at about 4:09 p.m. Tuesday, pulled him out of the water and called 911. When police and fire rescue units arrived, Lung had no vital signs.

Police said they do not suspect foul play.
