Light trade winds, isolated showers expected

Light to moderate trade winds will continue on into the weekend and then be bolstered by even stronger winds, according to the National Weather Service.

The winds should firm up over the weekend, and may reach the "fresh" level next week as a high pressure system builds northeast of the state, forecasters said.

A week band of clouds and showers will continue to sweep across the state today, affecting mainly windward and mountain areas.

Here's a look at what to expect for the weekend and the start of the new week:

Today, partly cloudy. Isolated showers in the morning. Highs 80 to 88. North winds up to 10 mph shifting to the east in the afternoon. Chance of rain 20 percent.

Tonight, partly cloudy with isolated showers. Lows 67 to 77. Northeast winds around 10 mph. Chance of rain 20 percent.

Saturday, partly cloudy with isolated showers in the morning, then mostly sunny in the afternoon. Highs 81 to 89. East winds 10 to 15 mph. Chance of rain 20 percent.

Saturday night, partly cloudy with isolated showers. Lows 67 to 77. Northeast winds 10 to 15 mph. Chance of rain 20 percent.

Sunday, partly cloudy. Highs 81 to 89. East winds 10 to 20 mph.

Sunday night, partly cloudy with isolated showers. Lows 67 to 78. Northeast winds 10 to 15 mph. Chance of rain 20 percent.

Monday, partly cloudy. Highs 81 to 89. Northeast winds 15 to 20 mph. Monday night, partly cloudy with isolated showers. Lows 67 to 78. East winds 10 to 15 mph. Chance of rain 20 percent.
