1904: The Pacific Commercial Advertiser reports that an improvement association for Kaimuki, Palolo and Wai'alae suburbs has been organized to work with government in an effort to provide good roads in the three sections and to beautify the district.
1950: Bids for construction of the $1 million Surfrider Hotel on Waikiki Beach are opened.
1951: The Advertiser reports that a week of secret negotiations has ended with labor peace for strikebound Lana'i and a 7-cent wage increase for Hawai'i's pineapple workers.
