High surf advisory in effect on south shores

A high surf advisory is in effect for south-facing shores, according to the National Weather Service in Honolulu. Surf along south-facing shores will be between 5 and 9 feet today.West- and north-facing shores will be 4 to 6 feet today. Surf along north-facing shores will decrease to 3 to 5 feet later today. Surf along east facing shores will be 2 to 4 feet.
The south swell will start to decrease on Thursday, the weather service said.
