Bullet in brassiere prompts arrest

Advertiser Staff

Police arrested a 28-year-old Kailua woman on felony charges early yesterday morning after allegedly finding a bullet in her bra.

Police said the woman initially was arrested in Waikiki on suspicion of driving while under the influence of alcohol or drugs. They said the woman was taken to the central receiving desk at the main police station on Beretania Street where a custodial search was performed as part of the booking procedure.

The search turned up a live bullet in the woman's bra, police said.

Because the woman has a criminal record, she was then arrested on suspicion of being a felon in possession of ammunition.

An 18-year-old woman filed a report with police yesterday saying she was sexually assaulted in the Ala Moana area about 8 p.m. Monday. The woman described the assailant as an acquaintance, about 20 to 25 years old.

Police had not made any arrests in the case as of this morning.

Teen arrested in stolen check case

An 18-year-old Waikalani Woodlands man was arrested yesterday morning in connection with a stolen check case.

Police were told that the daughter of a 54-year-old man stole one of his checks and gave it to her friend who, in turn, gave it to the 18-year-old man to cash.

The man tried to cash the check about 10:50 a.m. at the First Hawaiian Bank on California Avenue but the bank called the father, who confirmed the check had been stolen from him and forged, police said.

Police were called, went to the bank and arrested the man who tried to cash the check on suspicion of second-degree forgery and unlawful possession of confidential information.
