Fire destroys Kaimuki house

Advertiser Staff

A Kaimuki house went up in flames today, leaving three people homeless and causing about $230,000 in damage.

The fire started about 11:29 a.m. at a home on Brokaw Street, and it was under control by 11:48 a.m. Thirty-two fire fighters responded, HFD Capt. Jerry Spencer said.

Three people and two dogs were at home when the fire started, but escaped without injuries. Spencer said volunteers with the American Red Cross of Hawai'i are assisting the family.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
