Cuizon 4th in surf at California

Dustin Cuizon of 'Ewa Beach placed fourth in the Newport Beach Pro men's surfing contest yesterday at Newport Beach, Calif.

Nathan Yeomans of California won the contest.

The event was part of the Macy's California Trifecta Surf Series. Cuizon is the leader of the series after two of three events.

In the Oakley Pro Junior contest also held at Newport Beach yesterday, Casey Brown of the Big Island placed second and Granger Larsen of Maui placed fourth. The event was for surfers age 20 and younger.

Elsewhere, Joy Magelssen of Honolulu placed fifth and Janna Irons of Kaua'i tied for seventh in the Roxy Jam Cardiff women's longboard surfing contest yesterday at Cardiff, Calif.

Lindsay Steinriede of California won the contest.

USA TEAM TRIUMPHS

Luis Fernando Grez scored four goals and Bryant Laporte two as Team Bacardi USA beat Hawai'i Polo Inn, 6-4, yesterday in the final match of the 43rd season of the Hawai'i Polo Club in Mokule'ia.

Mike Dailey, Lee Mullins, Ricardo Villegas and Raymond Noh scored for Hawai'i Polo Inn.


RUNNING

BURR, TAYLOR PREVAIL

Susan Burr and Andrew Taylor won the Schofield Barracks 25K run yesterday.

Burr finished in 1 hour, 51 minutes, 13.1 seconds to win the open female division.

Taylor won the open male division in 1:35:03.7.
