Advertiser Staff

The National Weather Service in Honolulu has issued a flash flood warning as of 5:35 this morning for the Island of O'ahu.

The warning will remain in effect until at least 8:30 a.m. and may be extended if need be, forecasters said.

At 5:30 this morning, radar images showed areas of continued heavy showers along the Ko'olau Range. The most intense showers appeared to be between Kane'ohe and Kahana Valley.

Showers were also drifting over to the leeward slopes of the Ko'olaus above Pearl City and Waimalu.

Other locations in the warning include Kahuku, Punaluu, Hau'ula, Waikane, Waiahole, Kane'ohe, Maunawili, Pearl City and Waipahu.

The National Weather Service is urging people in low lying areas to move to higher ground now and to stay away from streams and areas prone to flooding.
