Husband arrested for punching wife

A 21-year-old Pearl City man was arrested yesterday evening after he allegedly punched his 19-year-old wife in the face.

Police were told the two had been arguing when the husband struck the wife. Uniformed officers went to the couple's home on a domestic violence call and later determined the wife's nose had been broken.

They arrested the husband about 6 p.m. on suspicion of second-degree assault.

Suspected care thief arrested on multiple offenses

A man wanted by police for allegedly stealing a car earlier this month was found yesterday in Wahiawa and arrested on suspicion of multiple criminal offenses.

Police said the man, who is known to Wahiawa District officers, was seen Sept. 14 near the Wahiawa District Court building driving a car that had been reported stolen.

Officers attempted to detain the man at that time, but he went speeding off, driving recklessly toward a pineapple field where he abandoned the car, police said.

The suspect, who does not have a local address, was found yesterday at his grandmother's home and was arrested on suspicion of unauthorized control of a propelled vehicle, driving without a license, reckless driving and fraudulent use of license plates.

Teen caught driving stolen car

Police arrested a 14-year-old boy in Waimanalo yesterday afternoon after they found him driving a car that the owner was not aware had been stolen from her.

Police said a patrol officer saw the car being driven recklessly and ordered the driver to pull over about 4 p.m..

The boy behind the wheel complied but attempted to run away after getting out of the car.

Police caught up with and arrested him on suspicion of unauthorized control of a propelled vehicle.

Knife threat leads to arrest

A 34-year-old man was arrested yesterday on suspicion of first-degree terroristic threatening after he allegedly pulled a knife on a 28-year-old man.

Police said the two men were arguing in the 2700-block of Monsarrat Avenue when the younger man threatened the older one with a pocket knife.

The suspect was identified and arrested at the scene, police said.

Police find loaded gun in car during traffic stop

Police arrested two men in Makiki yesterday morning after allegedly finding a loaded gun in their car.

Police said a patrol officer noticed the car's safety check and registration decals had expired and was conducting a traffic stop in the 1700 block of South King Street when he saw what looked like marijuana on the floor of the car.

At that point the officer arrested the driver and got his consent to search the rest of the car, police said.

The officer then found a handgun that had been reported stolen during a burglary earlier this year.

The driver was arrested on suspicion of failing to properly store a firearm and both men were arrested on suspicion of being a felon in possession of a firearm.

Suspect arrested for slashing tires

Police early yesterday morning arrested an 18-year-old Wahiawa man suspected of slashing the tires of 10 cars parked in the downtown area.

Police said a witness reported seeing the man cut the tires about 3:30 a.m. on five vehicles in a parking lot at 666 North King St. and one vehicle parked on the street near the parking lot.

The witness said the suspect then crossed the street and slashed the tires of four more vehicles.

Police were called to the area, found the suspect a short time later and arrested him on suspicion of multiple counts of second-degree criminal property damage.

Police searching for armed robber

Police yesterday were looking for a man estimated to be 18- to 20-years old after a 45-year-old man reported being robbed as he sat in his car yesterday morning near Kahe Point.

The man told police a stranger approached his car about 12:15 a.m., pointed a handgun at him and demanded money.

The man who filed the report told police he complied and that he last saw the robber driving away in a white car.

A suspect had not been identified as of this morning.
