1919: Mauna Loa erupts, two lava flows are reported.
1926: McCandles Brothers have almost completed the first of a battery of four artesian wells for Honolulu Plantation in the 'Ewa district, The Advertiser reports.
1944: The Army announces it has chosen a site on Damon estate land in Moanalua for its new $16 million hospital.
1946: The commissioners of public instruction announce that Japanese, Chinese and Tagalog will be taught again in three public high schools for the first time since the end of the war. The three schools were McKinley, Kaimuki and Farrington.
2002: The Pleasant Hawaiian Hula Show, formerly the Kodak Hula Show, shuts down, a victim of dwindling visitor counts at the time and the Islands' changing economic climate. An estimated 20 million people had seen the show since 1937.
