Morning commute into town moving at snail's pace

Advertiser Staff

The drive in from Leeward O'ahu is painfully slow at this time, with a backup that extends almost to Makakilo due to a series of stalls and minor collisions that began about 5 a.m.

Traffic is moving at a crawl through the H-1/H-2 merge and it remains heavy and slow through Waipahu, Pearl City and into 'Aiea.

Things pick up a bit on the Airport Viaduct but again at the Middle Street merge, where traffic is bumper-to-bumper at this time.

It's slow going through Kalihi and Liliha, but the congestion begins to thin out once past the Punahou off-ramp.

The drive in from the Hawaii Kai area is going well this morning with no real slowdowns at this hour until the point where Kalanianaole Highway merges into the freeway.

There are no major problems at this time heading in from Windward O'ahu.
