First North Shore swell won't be as big as expected

Advertiser Staff

The National Weather Service has rolled back just a bit on how big the surf may be along the North Shore when the first big swell arrives here on Friday.

Initial predictions called for surf of close to the 15-foot advisory level.

A revised forecast says only that the surf is expected to below the advisory level.

In any event, surf along the North Shore is on the rise and should climb to the 5- to 7-foot range today, forecasters said.

Elsewhere, expect surf of 1 to 3 feet along O'ahu's east- and south-facing shores and 2 to 4 feet along west-facing shores.
