Weir replaces Mickelson at Grand Slam on Kauai

Masters winner Phil Mickelson will bypass the PGA Grand Slam of Golf on Kaua'i in November, the PGA of America Announced today.Mickelson will be replaced by Mike Weir in the Nov 21-22 event at Poipu Bay Golf Course, organizers said. In a release, the PGA of America said Mickelson told them that, following the Ryder Cup, he will not compete the remainder of the year.
The rest of the scheduled field includes U.S. Open champion Geoff Ogilvy, British Open and PGA winner Tiger Woods and Jim Furyk, who is third highest on the Major Champion Points List.
The four golfers will compete for a $1.25 million purse — with the winner receiving $500,000.
