NORVEN "FRED" CRANDELL, 83, of Hilo, Hawai'i, died Sept. 13, 2006. Born in Atwood, Kan. A security officer; U.S. Navy Vietnam War veteran; retired from the U.S. Coast Guard. Survived by companion, Bernice Canon; daughters, Karen, Brenda and Lori; hanai daughters, Henrilyn Canon, Ramona Serrao, Bernadette Romm, Lorraine Brandt and Lehuanani Hiilei; hanai son, Eric Canon; three grandchildren.
