Kane'ohe man drove truck at moped riders, police say

Advertiser Staff

A 20-year-old man was charged today with driving his pickup truck at two men operating mopeds Thursday near Kamau Place.

Thane Kapahu, who was arrested at his Kamau Place residence, is accused of two counts of attempted murder and was being held in lieu of $40,000 bail.

Kapahu allegedly turned his pickup truck around and drove at the moped operators, ages 31 and 32, causing them to fall. One of the operators was hit by the truck and suffered minor injuries.

Police said Kapahu had argued with one of the two men in the past. Kapahu has eight criminal convictions.
