Search called off for missing hiker in Makaha

An air and land search for a hiker reported missing last night was called off this morning after the man's family reported thathe had returned home last night, shortly after firefighters suspended their search for him.
The man had been reported missing after hiking into the mountains across from Kea'au Beach Park in Makaha.
A Honolulu Fire Department rescue crew and its helicopter seached for the man until about 2 a.m. and were preparing to resume the search at first light this morning when they learned the hiker had returned to his home.
