Advertiser Staff

Kate Robinson and Tyleen Tausaga homered, and Jessica Morton pitched 3 1/3 innings of two-hit relief as the University of Hawai'i softball team defeated host San Jose State, 9-2, today in the finale of a Western Athletic Conference series.

Alana Power batted 3 for 3, including two doubles, and drove in two runs for the Rainbow Wahine (35-8, 8-1), who won the series 2-1.

Robinson's two-run homer gave UH a brief 2-0 lead in the top of the fourth.

The Spartans (16-18, 1-5) tied it with two runs in the bottom of the fourth, chasing starter Robinson with three straight singles after two were out. Morton gave up a run-scoring single and walk, but got Elizabeth Perez to ground out to third with the bases loaded.

Morton (8-1) then retired nine of the next 10 batters to earn the victory.

Tausaga's solo homer ignited a five-run sixth inning. Power doubled in two runs and pinch-hitter Audrey Andrade singled in two to make it 7-2.
