Hip-hop gig Inertia 4 set for UH April 14

News Release

Lightsleepers, the collective of emcees, djs, bboys, artist, and producers, celebrate its 10th anniversary with INERTIA 4:Hip-Hop's Forward Movement from noon to 8 p.m. April 14 at the University of Hawai'i-Manoa's Campus Center Ballroom.

In 1997 Lightsleepers started off as an underground hip-hop show on KTUH. Hosted by Kavet the Catalyst, the show held the eardrums of Hawai'i's underground scene for more than 5 years. But with new KTUH management and the realization that he was on a student slot two years after he graduated, Kavet the Catalyst signed off for good. Lightsleepers evolved into its present collective, which hosts events such as Turntable Tapestry, Trip the Lights (a monthly event that will celebrate its four-year run on April 27) and INERTIA.

INERTIA 4 will feature the first event in the "3 Kings Battle" the winner from INERTIA 4 will get a spot in the finals for Mighty 4 Hawaii in August. The winner of the "3 Kings Battle" will be flown to a Mighty4 battle on the Mainland.

DJ Jus Jones, offical dj for Rock Force Bboy Crew, Mighty 4 DJ, and original Lightsleeper (he used to co-host the KTUH show) will be on had to spin the best bboy breaks. He will also be spinning alongside DJ Revise, DJ Jedi, DJ Observ, and KTC.

There will also be a blackbook battle and live painting by Evil Villains and Angry Woebots. Open turntables and a mic lab will be set up for all emcees and djs to cypher.
