Three schools to get taste of Japanese culture

Students from Hanalani Schools, Nanakuli HIgh School and Pearl City High School will be taking part in a half-day program for "Japan Day" tomorrow at Hawai'i Tokai International College.

The Japanese-American Society is hosting the event, which includes bon dance, bonsai, calligraphy, ikebana, traditional crafts, kimono, soroban and tea ceremony.

More than 4,450 students have participated in the educational outreach program since its inception in 1993.

The program runs from 9 a.m. to noon.
