Wild Bird Rehab Haven needs new home

Advertiser Staff

The Wild Bird Rehab Haven in Mo'ili'ili is looking for a new home.

The non-profit has been at Puck's Alley for two years, but is being forced to move after a rent increase. Patty Scharff, a board member, said the organization can afford about $500 a month in rent.

She said the nonprofit needs an office space with at least 200 square feet. Some of the injured and sick birds would be kept at the office.

Others are cared for in homes.

At any one time, the rehab haven is treating about 60 birds islandwide, including protected species. After the birds recuperate and are found to be good health, they are set free.

In addition to caring for birds, the haven teaches residents what to do if they find an injured or sick bird. Classes are held monthly.

To contact the haven, call 292-3948 or e-mail wbrh@wildbirdrehabhaven.org.
