Advertiser Staff

An odorous problem is to be alleviated at the Honouliuli sewage treatment plant.

Biorem Inc., a Guelph, Canada-based company, said it had been awarded a $1.6 million contract for an odor control system at the facility. It said the work is being included as part of an expansion of the plant.

"The reduction of odors emanating from wastewater treatment plants has become a priority in the operations of thousands of municipal wastewater management systems around the world," said Peter Bruijns, Biorem president, in a news release.

"Meeting the demanding odor removal needs of clients is our number one concern."

The project will include installation of odor control as well as anaerobic digestors, the company said.
