Boy choir plans fund-raiser

Advertiser Staff

In an effort to regroup and raise funds, The Honolulu Boy Choir will present "A New Beginning," a dinner and auction, from 5:30 to 9 p.m. May 4 at the Pacific Beach hotel.

The choir is widely known for its animated performances, with high-pitched voices in harmonic unity. The youth group faced dissolution last year, when leadership and funding issues threatened its operations.

The evening will feature entertainment by Jeff Rasmussen, a former choir member, and Bobby Moderow of the group Maunalua. Choir members and a barbershop octet also will perform.

Celebrity auction items, including donations from actor Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa, "American Idol" singer Jordan Segundo and TV anchor Shawn Ching.

Tickets: $75 ($60 for boy choir alumni).
