Italian winemaker Alfio Cavallotto hosts tasting at Vino

Advertiser Staff

Vino master sommelier Chuck Furuya puts Alfio Cavallotto in the same company as other winemaking legends such as Bruno Giacosa and Giacomo Conterno from Italy, Coche Dury and Francois Jobard from France, and Fritz Haag from Germany.

"This is a VERY different group from the Michel Roland, Guigal, Angelo Gaja, Ricardo Cotarella, Helen Turley crowd," says Furuya.

Cavallotto will be at Vino 6 to 7 p.m. April 12 for a five-wine tasting.

"Cavallotto wines are classical. They exude typicity, authenticity and soulfulness," says Furuya.

The five wines will be:

--2004 Langhe Bianco (a Pinot Noir, vinified white)

--2003 Dolcetto

--2003 Barbera

--2000 Barolo "Bricco Boschis"

--2000 Barolo Riserva "San Giuseppe"

Cost: $39 a person (not including tax and tip). Limited seating.

Reservations required; call 533-4476.
