Wednesday's high school basketball: Roosevelt wins

Tiana Sugai scored 16 points and Iwalani Rodrigues added 14 to lead unbeaten Roosevelt to a 55-44 victory over host Kahuku last night in an Oahu Interscholastic Association Red East girls basketball game.

The Rough Riders led 34-30 entering the fourth quarter and outscored the Red Raiders 21-14 in the final quarter to improve to 6-0.

Taeja Afalava scored 15 and Keisha Moeai 12 to lead Kahuku, which fell to 3-3.

KALANI 56, KALAHEO 39

Megan Kamehiro scored 13 of her 20 points in the third quarter and Courtney Gaddis finished with 16 points and eight rebounds as the host Falcons rallied from a 26-24 halftime deficit with a 21-8 third quarter to beat the Mustangs and remain one game behind Roosevelt.

The Falcons had 10 blocked shots, with Rhianna Farm leading the way with four.

PEARL CITY 44, NANAKULI 32

Jazmine Pahukoa-Malia scored 14 points and Ariel Komomura 10 for the visiting Chargers, who held the Golden Hawks to two points in final quarter.

CAMPBELL 58, WAIANAE 40

Cheyna Tagura scored 14 points, Aloha Dias-Kekahuna and Jenny Sweeney each added 11, and Amber Kaulia had 10 as the host Sabers used a 20-5 second quarter for a 35-17 halftime lead in beating the Seariders in an Oahu interscholastic Association White West game.

WAIALUA 50, WAIPAHU 34

Chelsey Ramirez scored 15 points and the host Bulldogs pulled away from the Marauders after taking a 23-16 lead at intermission.

KAILUA 43, KAISER 39

Ashley Jacobs scored 14 points and Zsalei Kamaka scored six of her 12 points in the fourth quarter to help the host Surfriders rally past the Cougars, who led 26-18 at halftime.
