ISLAND LIFE SHORTS
Keep your face summer fresh

Advertiser Staff and News Services

Makeup artist Liz Dahl at Chop Salon shares these summer beauty tips:

  • Your skin changes in summer, and you don't realize how desperate it is for moisture. Give it more moisture and less oil.

  • Use an oil-free foundation — like the Paula Dorf version pictured here.

  • To keep lipstick from bleeding, first apply Paula Dorf's Perfect Illusion stick on and around lips.

Out with the old — what was hip can become a don't:

  • Earthy brown lipsticks

  • Too much eyeliner under the eye (even Pamela Anderson cleaned up)

  • No demarcation in that eye shadow contour — blend it completely.

    RELAX, TAKE 30

Step It Up, Hawaii kicks off today. The 10-week statewide Department of Health campaign aims to combat the growing problems of sedentary lifestyles, obesity and diabetes. The recommendation is simple: walk at least 30 minutes daily. Walking may be the best and easiest form of exercise. Begin with 10 minutes, and build up to 30 minutes. Walking gives us energy and reduces stress. If you are over age 50 or have had health problems, check with your doctor before starting a walking program. We'll feature a new tip every Wednesday through June 13. Next week: How to incorporate walking into your daily schedule.
