Spring HIFF lineup announced

Twenty-three films, from such global hubs as South Korea, Japan, Hong Kong, New Zealand, India, Romania, Denmark, Britain and the United States, will unreel in the 10th Spring Showcase of the Hawaii International Film Festival, April 20-26 at the Regal Cinemas at Dole Cannery.

Tickets are $10 ($9 for students, seniors, children, military and HIFF members), at 550-8457 or www.hiff.org.

Among the features to be shown: Hal Hartley's "Fay Grim," starring Parker Posey; "Waitress," with Kerri Russell; "Eagle Vs. Shark," dubbed the "Polynesian Napoleon Dynamite," and Japan's "Hula Girls," with music by Jake Shimabukuro.

An expected hit is "Udon," inspired by the Japanese classic, "Tampopo."

HIFF's anchor festival, the fall Louis Vitton Hawaii International Film Festival, will be held Oct. 18 to 28.
