Oh baby, it's cold outside, and wait till tonight

That jacket you've been saving for the trip to the Mainland will come in handy today, so will the sweater kept at the office for the frigid air conditioning.

Today's National Weather Service forecast is calling for highs of 70 to 77 degrees, but the temperatures are expected to drop to as low as 53 degrees tonight, which would be a state record low for this date. The current record low is 61 degrees, set in 1973.

As of 5 a.m., temperatures have dipped to 63 degrees in Honolulu and 60 degrees around other parts of O'ahu.

Today: Mostly cloudy in the morning then clearing. Highs 70 to 77. East winds around 10 mph.

Tonight: Mostly clear. Lows 53 to 60. Light winds.

Friday: Sunny. Highs 71 to 78. Light winds.

Friday night: Mostly clear. Lows 55 to 62. Light winds.

Saturday: Mostly sunny. Highs 72 to 80. Light winds.

Saturday night: Mostly clear. Lows 58 to 65. Northeast winds around 10 mph.
