WAIKIKI
Recycled-shoe drive begins

Advertiser Staff

Today marks the start of the 2nd annual Nike Reuse-A-Shoe Campaign in Hawai'i.

The goal is to collect 10,000 pairs of old athletic shoes to recycle into sports surfaces — instead of ending up in landfills.

More than 6,000 pairs were collected last year.

The official recycling day is slated for April 29 at Niketown in Waikiki.

People can drop off their old shoes between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m.

Or bring in any brand pair of athletic shoes to recycle during the month of April and get $10 off a new pair of Nike footwear.
