Marsh, valley tour Saturday

Hawaiian naturalist Chuck Burrows and anthropologist Paul Brennan will conduct a tour of historic sites in Kawai Nui Marsh and Maunawili Valley on Saturday.

The tour, from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., will include interpretive visits to a number of important Windward historic sites, including Ulupo Hei'au, Queen Lili'u-okalani's retreat, restored ancient taro terraces in the valley and the former Maunawili town site.

It is co-sponsored by Ahahui Malama I Ka Lokahi, the Kailua Hawaiian Civic Club and the Kawai Nui Heritage Foundation. A $5 donation is requested. To register, call Ahahui Malama I Ka Lokahi at 589-2963 or e-mail hemanumalia@hotmail.com.
