Kono and Kim tied for 4th in Arizona golf tournament

Stephanie Kono and Kimberly Kim are tied for fourth place, two strokes off the lead after the first round of the ReBath Heather Farr Classic Friday at Mesa, Ariz.

Kono, of Honolulu, and Kim, who moved to Arizona from the Big Island, each shot 70s at the American Junior Golf Association event at the par-71 Longbow Golf Club.

Rachel Morris, of Carlsbad, Calif., leads after shooting 68.

Honolulu's Chan Kim (72) is tied for 29th in the boys division.

In other events, Kahului's Elyse Okada (78) is tied for 15th, nine strokes off the lead after the first round at the Ping Junior at Woodlands in Texas.

Also, Hawai'i's Kristina Merkle (86) is 42nd, 17 strokes behind the leader after the first round at the Mizuno Junior at Braselton, Ga.
